On America's Wars

An occasional series on The Struggle, by J L Samboma

The wars and conflicts America has initiated and surreptitiously started in recent years - not to mention those of yonder years - never fail to invoke in my mind one of my favourite quotes from Marx, the validity of which endures to this very day. He was not writing eternal truths or dogma, as he himself said.  He was making profound observations.

Said quote: "The profound hypocrisy and inherent barbarism of bourgeois civilisation lies unveiled before our eyes,... turning from its home, where it assumes respectable forms, to the colonies, where it goes naked."

These wars also bring to mind a favourite saying of one of my mentors, Dr Abdulrahman Mohamed Babu - author of "African Socialism or Socialist Africa" and a leader of the Zanzibar Revolution of 1964 - who passed away in 1996.

Comrade Babu (seen in the picture with Malcolm X) once said to me, "America cannot function without a bad guy. They need a bogeyman to justify their murderous foreign policy." And he never tired of pointing this out, in speeches and in his many articles for various publications he wrote for after he left united Tanzania after years of imprisonment.

The wars which the United States of America is initiating and fuelling around the world are thinly veiled attempts by the Military Industrial Complex to keep the profits rolling in from arms sales which keep the imperialist economy afloat for the benefit of the few, and to deliver crumbs, as an afterthought, to the underclass in order to stave-off the inevitable wrath of this underclass.

This is not to discount the reality that without these wars of conquest, especially in resource-rich regions of the world, the economy would grind to a halt. Without wars to justify the massive spending on the defence industry, how else would the imperialist beast ensure a veritable reservoir of violent anti-American militants out for revenge against the Great Satan!  A self-perpetuating system invented by an evit genius.

The wars of America are fail-safe mechanisms to provide further justification for more militarisation to keep the MIC in profit and the wider economy afloat. Each one is a self-fulfiling prophesy, an arc in the vicious circe of skulduggery and mass-murder that masquerades as something these satanic conjurors call freedom.

And it is very sad indeed that many Africans and African descedentants convince themselves that things have changed just because the MIC, the real power in America, have hit on the bright idea to put a black face on the ugly visage of The Beast.
